‘Chalet Girl’ Westfield Premiere Competition!

Standard

London’s top shopping destination, Westfield, announced a competition earlier today where 5 lucky winners will receive a pair of tickets to the world premiere of new chick-flick ‘Chalet Girl’, next Tuesday the 8th Feb. The winners will get to walk the red carpet alongside the stars (including my fave, Ed Westwick, aka Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl!). To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is e-mail your full name and number to uk.win@westfield-uk.com with the title ‘Chalet Girl’ in the subject box.
Good luck!

OMG! Demi’s alive!

Standard

So after 3 months having treatment for ’emotional & physical issues’, and a run-in with back-up dancer Alex Welch, US pop singer Demi Lovato has finally been released from rehab. She has plans to tour and release a third album later this year, with her aiming for collaborations with Canadian singer Drake & Trey Songz. On Friday she was spotted out in Santa Monica, and is already setting up plans to get straight back to work.

Eva & Tony’s Divorce Finalised

Standard

Actress Eva Longoria’s divorce from US basketball player Tony Parker (after 3 years of marriage) was finalised in Texas last Friday. 😦 However, being the determined woman that she is, she still made an appearance at the Screen Actor’s Guild awards last night, and presented an award. She is reportedly dating the brother of Penelope Cruz, Eduardo- good to see she’s moving on from Tony! 🙂

My Oscar Predictions Are…

Standard

I generally find that the Golden Globes are a great way of predicting the results of the Oscars (that take place in LA at the end of next month).

Natalie Portman collecting her Golden Globe

If Colin Firth doesn’t win the Best Actor award for ‘The King’s Speech’, it will be a crying shame- perhaps the reason I am really hoping he will do, is so that he’ll pay his old college, Barton Pev, another visit whilst I’m still there 😉 No, but seriously it is a great film, and he is such a babe as Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones! 😀 ‘The King’s Speech’ has picked up nominations for over 12 different categories!

On the other hand, there’s been a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding Natalie Portman- the actress, who stars in recent Box Office smash ‘Black Swan’ (which I have yet to see, will be posting a review of it on Thursday), will be sure to collect the award for Best Actress, making it a third award to add to her collection so far this year.

127 hours, Inception & Toy Story 3 are other set winners, and The Social Network will definitely pick up a few awards.

Oh to be a Saturday…

Standard

Having easily replaced Girls Aloud as Britain’s best female pop group, The Saturdays’ career is set to reach even more dizzying heights next month when they embark on their huge UK tour. The tour, which will see the girls perform in over 20 different venues throughout February, will kicks off next Saturday in Liverpool, and is set to be full of sequins and sparkles! Rochelle tweeted this pic of 5 clear crystal covered microphones that each of the girls will use each night. Can their lives get any more fun?! Enjoy the tour girls, can’t wait to hopefully meet you on the 26th at the BIC! 🙂

Put A Ring On It!

Standard

Reports emerged this week claiming that Muse singer Matt Bellamy had proposed to his girlfriend of nine months, actress Kate Hudson. However, in an interview with Graham Norton, she denied their engagement. Kate says that she “feels like she’s having a little girl”, and that “they have a couple of names but they’re not telling anyone!”. Wonder how long it will be before she’s wearing a ring…

Katie Reid No More

Standard

After weeks of similar stories circulating, late last night, Katie Price’s spokesperson released a joint statement from her and husband Alex Reid, in which she explained that her and her husband of a year were separating. It seems that last minute crisis talks between the couple have failed to help fix their issues, and it seems the last straw for Katie was the pictures that Alex posed for with her son, Junior, for a magazine, after having previously explained that now that they were old enough to understand, she didn’t want them to be forced to take part in photo shoots. Whilst I agree that he has used her and he has become a bit fame hungry, you have to admit that she should have seen this coming, and at least she realises now that she rushed into things too soon. I think this divorce is about to get very messy!

The King’s Speech Film Review

Standard

Ok, so I wasn’t exactly enthralled by the prospect of going to see this film earlier this evening; I mean, I have had more of enough of History recently (I have a Fascist Italy exam Thursday…whoop!), but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this film. After the all the Oscar buzz that this film has received, I was intrigued as to how this film would play out. Colin Firth (who, by the way, went to MY COLLEGE!!) played the role of George V very well. An unexpected addition to the cast was Helena Bonham Carter, who played a very prim and proper wife to George, and cutie daughter Karen from ‘Outnumbered’. The plot was based upon the King’s speech impediment (a stammer), and his fight to beat this with the help on his Speech Therapist Logan in his quest to become King.
Star rating: 3/5
Verdict: Great actor (wish he would play more of a variety of roles though!), quite good film.
