Popstars Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber made their first red carpet appearance together as a couple last night at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. 18- year-old Selena wore a beautiful red dress, and Justin colour coordinated with a red handkerchief. I think they make a very cute couple, despite their 2 year age difference!
The first of Lady Gaga’s 2 music videos for her latest single, ‘Born This Way’, was released today. The video itself, over 7 minutes long, is very dramatic, just like Gaga. She called Radio 1 this afternoon and spoke to DJ Greg James about the video:
“It’s the story about the birth of a new race. A race that bears no prejudice and a race that’s primary sort of ambition in life is to inspire unity and togetherness.I had an absolutely sublime time working on it,” the singer said. “I actually did it with a U.K. filmmaker and very famous fashion photographer Nick Knight. I worked on it with him. I wrote the script for the video and the concept, and between himself, and Laurieann Gibson, my choreographer, we really brought the story to life. It’s very inspired by, especially in the beginning, Salvador Dalí and Francis Bacon, the surrealist painters”.
After their performance supporting ‘The Saturdays’ last night, we rushed towards the bar to meet their support band, Twenty Twenty, along with about a million other screaming girls, and had our picture taken with them. It was then that my friend managed to headbutt the lead singer….smooth! 😛 They announced that their debut single will be out this April, so look out for them!
I spent the evening yesterday at my first ever ‘The Saturdays’ concert (at the BIC in Bournemouth). A fairly small venue, I was surprised by how good my seats were, and I had a good view of the stage. The girls had 2 fairly unknown support acts; new ‘All Time Low’/ ‘McFly’ wannabes, Twenty Twenty, and dance- based group Six D, who revealed that they have just filmed their first ever music video in LA. Both succeeded in warming the crows up, with the boys garnering the most cheers from the crowd! However, Rochelle, Frankie, Una, Mollie and Vanessa didn’t let our side down, and did a fab hour and a half long performance of their hits to date. There was a surprise addition to their set list, with a short Rihanna tribute medley (they sang a mixture of ‘Love The Way You Lie’, ‘What’s My Name?’ and ‘Only Girl In The World’), which got the crowd on their feet! My favourite songs were ‘Higher’, ‘Karma’, ‘One Shot’ and ‘Puppet’ (where the girls struggled to untie themselves from various ropes onstage in their dance routine!). Vanessa continued her ritual of taking a picture of the audience each night, so that people can tag themselves in it on Facebook. The girls had several costume changes, and wore outfits varying from matching colourful fringed dresses, bodycon dresses, leather jackets, hotpants and so on- they had an amazing stylist! One of their best looks was Vanessa’s pink leather jacket and matching headband- Vanessa, when you’re done with them, you know where to bring them to? 😉 They chatted onstage between songs about their upcoming December tour, their latest single (which they performed), and Vanessa’s need to jive 🙂 I’m going to give them 4/5 live, their vocals were very strong and they managed to keep up with some pretty complicated dance routines!
The best comedy I’ve seen since ‘Bridget Jones’, (or maybe ‘The Hangover’), ‘Just Go With It’ exceeded my expectations by far. The stellar line-up consisted of comedy genius Adam Sandler, ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and newbie actress Brooklyn Decker (one for the boys). The basic plot is that Adam Sandler’s character is a ‘no strings attached’ kind of guy (who also happens to be a top plastic surgeon), that ever since being cheated on by an ex-fiance, has bedded numerous women under the pretense that he was unhappily married. His assistant/ receptionist, Aniston, tries to curb his womanizing ways, but ends up caught in the middle of his new relationship with ‘Palmer’ (Decker). ‘Katherine’ (Aniston) is forced to pose as his soon-to-be-ex-wife when introduced to her, and pretends that ‘Danny’ (Sandler) is the father of her 2 children. A turn of events (and much persuasion on Katherine’s son, Matthew’s part), leads to a spontaneous trip to Hawaii to see the dolphins, where Aniston and Sandler try to understand their feelings for one another. This is where she bumps into former college Rival ‘Devlin’ (Kidman), who compete in a hula competition one evening, which leads to a competitive dance-off. The surprising star of the film was the hilarious daughter of Aniston, ‘Maggie’ (Anderson), who’s stereotypical British accent and over the top manner had the audience in hysterics. One unexpected addition to the cast was the better half of Speidi, Heidi Montag, who’s twins made a cameo appearance early on in the film briefly. The film had an almost perfect ending, and is sure to be a box-office hit- the question is, will Katherine and Danny get together at the end? 😉 Rating: 5/5 (the perfect comedy! Rude enough for the boys, and enough romance for the girls).
P.S. Eyebrow lady at the start is hilarious, and tragically reminded me of me! 😛
Former ‘The X Factor’ judge Sharon Osbourne has tipped Cheryl Cole to be one of the main judges for the US version of ‘The X Factor’, which launches late this year. She said: “Americans won’t understand a bl***y word of unadulterated Geordie. But with a little help – and those gorgeous Bambi eyes – she’ll win the audience over. Cheryl will be great. She needs to know what she can and can’t say, but after that it’ll be plain sailing. And she has Simon’s full backing so she will be just fine, no matter what. Cheryl and Simon are the only two confirmed for the US X Factor so far. They won’t be doing the UK show, I’m pretty certain.” The Geordie-born singer has been receiving special elocution lessons to make her strong accent slightly clearer for an American audience.
Well, ever since Jessie J announced earlier this week that she is in fact bisexual, she has sent the rumour mill into overdrive, sending Nicki Minaj a flirtatious response to Nicki’s comment claiming that she “loves Jessie J”. Jessie said: “To even have someone like her to take time out of her busy schedule to know someone like me is just an honour. I love you too, Nicki.” The 22-year -old Brit award winner said she would love to work with Nicki or Drake. She said: “I think that Drake is amazing and I think that Nicki Minaj is stupidly sick – I would be honoured if either of them wanted to work with me.” Fashionistas have noticed a similarity in their dress sense, with Jessie having copied Nicki’s trademark jumpsuits of late, (including a tattoo style flesh coloured one on her appearance on the Graham Norton show). This is a collaboration I’d like to see happen!
