Just 72 days after marrying Kris Humpries, Kim Kardashian has filed for a divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences.”
‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians‘ producers ‘E!‘ have released a statement regarding the shock split: “All of us at ‘E!‘ are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. ‘E!‘ will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family.”
Family friend Ryan Seacrest told his millions of Twitter followers a couple of hours ago: “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few minutes.”
Kim‘s official statement on the divorce reads: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
‘Momager’ Kris Jenner forced the couple to sign a prenuptial agreement before their vows, so Kim is unlikely to suffer financially, and could easily wangle a magazine deal of two out of this. She’s hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to handle her case, who has previously worked with Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie.
It’s sad that she was more in love with the idea of her dream wedding that she was with Kris.
