‘Gossip Girl‘ sinner Michelle Trachtenberg has told ‘Us Weekly‘ that she came very close to landing the lead role of Bella Swan in Stephanie Meyer‘s hugely successful vampire flick franchise, ‘Twilight‘.
Despite being on friendly terms with the director, Catherine Hardwicke, she ended up missing out on the role.
“There was definitely interest here and there because there’s only so few pale girls in Hollywood. I’ve known Catherine Hardwicke since the movie ‘Thirteen‘. I was actually supposed to star in that, but I was on ‘Buffy‘ at the time. I’ve already done the vampire thing.”
Her commitments to ‘Gossip Girl‘ and ‘The Circuit‘ prevented her from accepting the role: “I guess schedules never worked out. Dwelling on a hypothetical situation means you’re not living in the moment and you’re looking negatively at what you’re doing now.”
I’m glad that she refused it; I cannot imagine anyone playing Georgina Sparks other than herself. Would she have made a better Bella Swan though, or is Kristin Stewart your favourite?
