Jessie J has had to increase her own security after a crazy fan got hold of her phone number and started bombarding the singer with texts. The person in question, who’s name is unknown to the press, also deliberately broke her own leg in order to be just like her idol. The teenager copied her injury after Jessie‘s fall onstage at last year’s ‘Capital FM‘ Summertime Ball, and even texted her a picture of the injured limb. One of the many messages read: “I will do anything to be just like you.”
Someone close to Jessie told ‘The Sun‘: “She’s horrified this happened. Jessie‘s a really, really sensitive and kind girl who loves keeping in touch with her fans. But this incident was just too much for her and she ended up getting really frightened and upset. She was sad that a fan hurt herself to look like her — but she was also scared for her own safety. Now Jessie‘s on ‘The Voice‘ and getting bigger and bigger, she knows it is time to review security and the risks to her. She loves her fans but these things are unavoidable in this day and age. It happens to all pop stars as they become bigger. It’s one of the downfalls of fame. Jessie would prefer it wasn’t this way.”
She hasn’t commented about the fan directly on Twitter, but did post a slightly cryptic message earlier: “People watching my every move…”
She’s been called one of the world’s most over-exposed celebrities before, and a new interview with Paris Hilton proves that she doesn’t ever want to lose that celebrity status.
During a pre-recorded TV interview with Australian broadcasters ‘Channel 7‘, the heiress reportedly flipped off camera when she was asked about plans for her life after her fame ends. She managed to make it through the segment without exploding by replying hastily with an answer about plans for motherhood, but you could see the shock in her eyes at the cheek of the reporter!
Her PR team confronted the cheeky journalist straight after, and they were banned from ever interviewing the socialite again. She is currently in Sydney for the opening of new club ‘Marquee‘, where boyfriend DJ Afrojack will DJ. In the clip below, reporter Edwina Bartholomew (what a name!) suggested that she had been uninvited from the festivities following their confrontation.
But since their disagreement, Paris has decided to take the high road and make her more than welcome to attend, writing: “Hi Edwina, It was great to meet you yesterday. I just heard that someone told you I was upset with the interview and that you aren’t welcome at the event tonight. I thought the interview went well, maybe someone else was unhappy but I wasn’t. Please consider this a personal invitation from me for you to join us tonight. Hope to see you there!”
The embarrassed (and slightly arrogant) reporter replied: “For those who give 2 hoots, yes, Paris did (re)invite me tonight. No, I won’t be going. Off on a road trip to a mate’s wedding in Cooma!” Ooh, bitchy! I certainly wouldn’t turn down any invite from her.
‘Aston Villa‘ captain Stiliyan Petrov was diagnosed with Leukemia today. The Bulgarian player, 32, sought help from doctors after contracting a fever after Saturday’s game against old rival ‘Arsenal‘, and a series of medical tests have confirmed that he was the illness.
The club have issued a statement: “We expect to learn more about Stiliyan‘s situation in due course and we have moved quickly to support him and his family. Stiliyan is cherished by many and he will get from ‘Villa‘ every ounce of love and support that we have to help bring this to a positive conclusion.” A representative for the ‘Professional Footballers’ Association‘ added: “It’s a terrible shock, especially so soon after what has happened to Fabrice Muamba.”
The club’s manager, Alex McLeish said: “We think it is in the early stages and Stan will get the best medical attention possible. Everybody here is behind Stan and everybody will be pretty shocked by the news. I’ve not spoken to any of the players. I think one or two who were close to him were aware that he was awaiting news of fuller tests. So the players will be gutted but hopefully galvanized to win this game for their captain tomorrow.”
It certainly doesn’t seem like footballers have a lot of luck health-wise at the moment!
Robbie Williams is set to be a father for the first time! He announced on his website today that his wife of 2 years, Ayda Field, is pregnant.
His message read: “Hey friendlies, I’ve been keeping a secret from you all. Me and Ayda are going to be a Mummy and Daddy this year! We had sex! It works! We’ve seen scans and cried… looked at babies in commercials and teared up… the nursery is already planned. Basically I’m in love with a little person growing in Mummy’s belly… and can’t wait to be a Daddy. Crying now. Much love, much joy. Roberto, Mum and Little Bump.”
A triumphant Lindsay Lohan left an LA court today having been told that her formal probation has been lifted for the first time in 4 years. At her final hearing today, judge Stephanie Sautner told the good-girl-gone-bad: “You need to live your life in a more mature way, stop clubbing and focus on work.” But the lecture ended there, as she then beamed at the actress and exclaimed “she did it!” to a full court house.
Lindsay returned the compliment by saying: “What you’ve done has really opened a lot of doors for me. I hope I see you again soon.” And instead of heading to ‘Chateau Marmont‘ for celebratory drinks in the style of the old Lindsay, she told ‘TMZ‘ that she planned on celebrating with a quiet dinner with her sister, Ali.
Amy Winehouse‘s parents Janis and Mitch will be pleased to hear that her horrible ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil will not receive a penny of her estate. She left behind a £3 million fortune for her family after almost £2 million was taken away to pay for debts and taxes last year. As the never got around to making her own will, her parents are the best to be kept in charge of their daughter’s finances, and Mitch is the administrator of her estate.
Her long-suffering Dad Mitch has been criticised by fans for flogging one of his daughter’s old dresses on ‘Channel 4‘ show ‘Four Rooms‘, despite proceeds from the sale going to the ‘Hopes And Dreams‘ charity. He defended himself, and said: “Regarding the auction dress on ‘Four Rooms‘ on ‘Channel 4‘ tonight; Amy gave that dress to ‘Hopes and Dreams‘ charity 9 months before she passed away. It is not our dress. I was asked to help with negotiations. So we are not selling Amy‘s dress. But we will sell others to raise money for kids that need help.”
Last October, fans of ‘The Saturdays‘ were surprised to hear that one of their most squeaky clean girls was having a few personal problems at home. Frankie Sandford has spoken about her panic attacks, paranoia and general depression in the days leading up to her hospitalisation in the May issue of ‘Glamour‘ magazine.
In the article, she discusses how little things would set her off: “One night, I got upset because Wayne (Bride) hadn’t bought the right yoghurts. I manage to convince myself he didn’t know me at all. It set off this spiral of negative thinking – that if I disappeared, it wouldn’t matter to anyone. In fact, it would make everybody’s life easier. I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn’t deserve anything.”
“Every time I spoke to someone, I’d be thinking, “They probably think I’m a horrible person. Am I boring them? Do I look ugly?” I was so nervous, because I was “Frankie from ‘The Saturdays’“. I didn’t know if people would be horrible to me and say: “You’re in a successful girl band, you’ve got this great boyfriend, he’s got loads of money. But nobody judged me. Nobody thought I was weird. I did lose myself, but I feel like me again now. But I try not to put pressure on myself – it’s unrealistic, no one is 100 per cent happy all of the time.”
The singer is the face of the magazine’s new ‘Hey, It’s OK‘ campaign, and is hoping that her knowledge of depression will help other sufferers.
