‘Gossip Girl‘ fanatics everywhere (including me) will be heartbroken to hear that the classiest show on TV has just been axed by ‘The CW.’ The show, which parades the best of fashion, has announced that this autumn’s 6th series of ‘Gossip Girl‘ will be its last, and that there will only be 11 episodes instead of the usual 24. It has been on our screens since 2007 on ‘ITV2‘ here in the UK, and is shown in 197 countries- quite an achievement!
In the 6th series Nate Archibald (played by Chace Crawford) will develop an obsession with finding out who the mysterious ‘Gossip Girl‘ actually is. Chace told ‘The Mirror‘: “For me, it’s going to be tough to leave New York City. And it’s definitely an end of an era. It was college for everyone really. If I got to write the show, it would be a very different thing. I would make Chuck ‘Gossip Girl‘ and I would turn my character into Patrick Bateman from ‘American Psycho‘. That would be a weird twist of events.”
The show’s writers themselves tweeted: “Looks like the secret’s out, we’ve been picked up! But we’ve been here scheming our final season for weeks. See you in the fall! XOXO.”
