‘Star Wars‘ creator George Lucas has finally decided to retire at the age of 68 after a career in film and directing which has spanned several decades. His main motivation for quitting showbusiness is to spend more time in his garage, and with wife Mellody Hobson. He is best known for the space series and action films ‘Indiana Jones‘, and he plans to move onto non-commercial film making next.
George told movie buff magazine ‘Empire‘: “I’m moving away from the company, I’m moving away from all my businesses. I’m finishing all my obligations and I’m going to retire to my garage with my saw and hammer and build hobby movies. I’ve always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theaters.” It’s not like he needs to make any more money though, as his estate is worth over $3.2 billion!
