Michael Jackson‘s daughter Paris was hospitalised yesterday and placed in a psychiatric ward after attempting to commit suicide. The high school student, who is only 15 years old, has endured a number of tragedies in recent years, most obviously the death of her pop legend father.

Whilst the method which she chose in which to take her life is still unknown, ‘TMZ‘ report that she slashed her wrists with a meat cleaver, and swallowed a tonne of ‘Motrin‘ pills- a lethal combination. She left a note for her family, and is thought to have dialed a suicide hotline after the attempt, who alerted the emergency services. She is said to have argued recently with brother Prince, and fell out with her guardians when she was banned from attending Marilyn Manson‘s LA show this evening.

Her grandmother Katherine’s lawyer Sandra Ribera has spoken on the behalf of the family: “Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.” Popstar Demi Lovato, who has suffered from self harm issues the majority of her life, showed her support on Twitter: “Dear Paris Jackson, don’t let bullies to let you down. We believe in you! Stay strong, Please. You’re beautiful and we love you. #Praying.” Paris‘ last couple of tweets yesterday definitely reflected her sad mood: “I wonder why tears are salty?…Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”
