It has been four years since Adele released her sophomore album, and aside from her Skyfall recording, fans have heard very little from her since. She had a son with Simon Konecki, and lived a very reclusive existence, rarely being spotted outside her London home. Now she has shocked her millions of fans by announcing her third album ’25’ will released in just over a month, November 20, and the 30 million people that purchased her last effort ’21’ will no doubt find the next month to be agonisingly long. Her first single from the album ‘Hello’ is released tomorrow; her hardcore fans recognised her vocal from the track being used in an X Factor episode earlier this month, and have been suspicious ever since.
In an amusing and ramble-filled website post yesterday, she listed her many regrets over the last 25 years, including dodgy hair cuts, and advises fans that it is far better to break the rules, than to make the rules! She continues: “My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one, I would call it a make -up record. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my twenties. Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully fledged adult.”
Adele‘s keeping her mouth shut about her baby’s name even tighter than a nun’s legs, and told ‘Golden Globe‘ partygoers and reporters the other night that she had no plans to announce it yet.
She was overheard saying, according to ‘People‘: “I am not sharing his name at the moment. It is very personal to me… I am enjoying him on my own.” I’m sure it’s fugly anyway…
Overplayed singer Adele won the ‘Best Original Song‘ ‘Golden Globe‘ award Sunday night for her track ‘Skyfall‘, and accepted her award onstage with her usual chavy humour and lack of grace. She told the star-studded crowd: “Honestly, I’ve come here for a night out! I was not expecting this… thank you so much for letting me be a part of your world for a night. I’ve been pissing myself laughing.”
On the red carpet she was a little more sophisticated, and described her recording experience for the song as very emotional due to her recent pregnancy (she gave birth to her first son last October): “I was very pregnant and very emotional, but it was amazing. I got the script a long time ago and it took me quite a while for them to convince me. It’s a big responsibility. Motherhood is lovely, I’m really enjoying it.”
Katy Perry has praised friend Adele for her fairly promising parenting skills and her knack for stealing her own food in yet another interview on the ‘Part Of Me: 3D‘ promotional tour:
“I love the fact that she’s going to have a baby. That’s so cute of her. She’s such a good woman. And she was really nice in my movie, saying nice things about me. I’ve always loved her. She came and saw one of my shows really early on when I played this small venue in London. She came backstage and I was eating a burrito and she was like, ‘A burrito? Where did you get that burrito in England? Where did you get Mexican food?’ And she took it, that bitch!”
Chart-topping machine Adele has announced her 1st pregnancy today with boyfriend Simon Konecki. In a rare post on her official website, she shared: “I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our 1st child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele.”
Here’s a bunch of humorous thoughts from Twitter users today: “Rumor has it there’s something rolling in the deep of Adele‘s uterus. Aka: She’s pregnant, DAMNNNNN!”; “Now that Adele is pregnant, Blue Ivy is irrelevant”; “I thought Adele was pregnant for the past 5 years.”
‘Twilight‘ actor Robert Pattinson has told Canada’s ‘George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight‘ that he recently had an argument with multiple-‘Grammy‘-winning artist Adele at a ‘Grammys‘ party, when he gave her some slightly patronising career advice!
He explained: “Actually I had this argument with Adele, which is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever said. I was saying, “You know, you can really just like reach for it,” and she was like, “You do realise I am like the biggest-selling female artist ever?” And I just for some reason just decided to get into an argument with her. I woke up the next day really regretting the whole thing. I’ve always been like this. I’m one of those people who is dying to go to the party and then when I get there I just hang out in the corner with the people I came with, not talking to anybody else anyway. I have this fantasy that if I wasn’t famous I’d be out meeting random people on the street but that’s not true. Most of the time you try to avoid random people on the street whether you’re famous or not.”
Rumours that Adele got a sparkly engagment ring from her boyfriend for her 24th birthday on Tuesday have been dismissed by the lady herself. She’s not ready to walk down the aisle just yet for boyfriend Simon Konecki; she wrote on Twitter yesterday: “Had a lovely birthday, thanks for all the messages. I got a blossom tree! I didn’t get a cake from Rih Rih & I’m not engaged, blah blah.”
It was reported at the start of the week that Adele‘s girl crush, Rihanna, had sent her a cheeky birthday cake in the shape of a naked woman, with a note that said: “To Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, the baddest bitch around. Have the best freaking bday. Cake cake cake.”
Karl Lagerfeld has attempted to repair the damage done to his relationship with singer Adele after his recent “fat” comments. The French designer has sent her a number of ‘Chanel‘ handbags at no cost, and hopes that she will consider fronting the ‘Chanel Mademoiselle‘ handbag line in the future, when current model Blake Lively‘s contract ends.
‘The Sun‘ wrote about the peace offering: “Karl has been filming for the new ‘YouTube‘ chanel TV channel and mentioned his plans to patch things up. He told his team to send Adele the best the fashion house have to offer after hearing she collected bags. He said he really wanted to make it up to her so they could maybe work together in the future. He’s annoyed with himself because he ended up insulting her when he meant to compliment her. He thinks she’s beautiful and calls her divine.”
Due to time constraints, James Corden was forced by ‘ITV‘ bosses to end Adele‘s acceptance speech early at last night’s ‘BRIT‘ awards, which he hosted. He had to make the interruption to allow ‘Blur‘ to come to the stage in time for their performance of ‘Parklife‘.
When she was thanking her fans for her ‘Album of the Year‘ award, she cheekily ‘flipped the bird’ after being told she was going to be kicked offstage. She said: “Thank you so much, thank you, thank you very, very much. Nothing beats coming home with 6 ‘Grammys‘ and then coming to the ‘BRITs‘ and winning album of the year. I’m so proud to be flying the British flag for all of you.”
James then appeared on stage, and said: “I’m so sorry, can I just cut off?” To which she replied: “Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round.”
A ‘BRITs‘ spokesman issued a statement today: “We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running. We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night’s biggest award. It tops off what’s been an incredible year for her.”
She was quoted as saying afterwards: “I was about to thank the British public for their support. They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me. I got cut off during my speech and flung the middle finger. But that finger was to the suits at the ‘Brit‘ wards, not to my fans.”
Adele swept the board and took home 6 ‘Grammy‘ awards at last night’s ceremony! After a hiatus from singing for the last few months, she made a huge comeback with a performance of her hit ‘Rolling In The Deep‘. The London-born singer won awards for the following: ‘Record of the Year‘, ‘Song of the Year‘ (‘Rolling In the Deep‘), ‘Album of the Year‘ for ‘21‘, ‘Song of the Year‘, and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance‘.
She had to cancel shows last year and had huge problems with her vocal cords; she underwent surgery on her vocal chords, and spent months on official rest. In an acceptance speech, she said: “I can’t believe I’m getting emotional already. And seeing as it’s a vocal performance, I need to thank my doctors, I suppose, who brought my voice back.” In her many trips up to the podium, she thanked producer Rick Rubin and new boyfriend Simon Konecki, and was presented with an award by singing legend Diana Ross.
