In a cute ‘Vine‘ video uploaded on Friday, something pop/ country legend Taylor Swift was wearing seemed more than a little familiar to me. Upon closer inspection, I recognised her cute dog print blouse as a garment that I nearly purchased just the day before, while rummaging through the well- thumbed sales racks in my local Topshop.
This adorable dog-print short-sleeved blouse was previously retailed at £26, but was knocked down to £15 for their annual summer sale. It is currently available online, but is still available in some stores, and of course on eBay.
In the extremely short video, Taylor and BFF Selena Gomez can be seen treating themselves to an ice cream, and even “cheers”ing them! “It’s summer, isn’t it?,” Taylor asks, to which Selena confirms: “It’s summer time!”
If you’re a dog-lover and are disappointed that the Topshop design is no longer available, Very have a decent alternative option, although it is of a more nautical design. Buy it here for £20.
have a long-sleeved, aqua coloured version listed on their site for £36

T-Swizzle and Ed Sheeran wrote a song together last year called ‘Everything Has Changed‘ for her album ‘Red‘, and the pair have performed it at each of her shows on her US tour. But last night marked their first live television performance of the single- the 5th to be taken from the phenomenal album. The possibly-more-than-friends duo have spent just 2 days in London, and a performance at the ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘ last night was high on their list of priorities. The single ‘Everything Has Changed’ will be released in the UK on June 24.
The Sheeran wrote on Twitter on Friday: “I’m home! Back in the UK for 2 days. So excited to sleep in my own bed.” The talent show’s own Twitter page documented their act: “Loving Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran sprinkling a little musical magic over tonight’s
#BGTfinal. Beautiful guys… just beautiful. *Sniff*” When joking around with presenters Ant & Dec, Ed told them: “Can I just say I actually bought the ‘PJ & Duncan Greatest Hits‘.”
Taylor Swift looked phenomenal at Sunday night’s ‘Billboard Music Awards 2013‘ in this long-sleeved sequinned Zuhair Murad number- the outfit alone deserved the 8 trophies that she took home! I am obsessed with this daring shade of royal blue at the moment, and can totally see why she chose it with her sandy blonde locks.
Whilst I can’t find a practically identical version on the High Street, I have found several considerably cheaper alternatives, listed below. (I believe the reason for my struggle is the majority of the population deem it socially unacceptable to wear sequins all year-round, and only at Christmas– these people need to lighten up, quite literally!)
Lipsy one shoulder glitter dress, £48
Motel gabby sequin dress, £58
RI-Lashes of London dress, £25
Taylor Swift has already appeared in several films and TV shows in previous years, and has just landed another role, this time on popular American sitcom ‘New Girl.’ Her character’s details have yet to be confirmed, so all we know is that she will be starring opposite leading actress Zooey Deschanel and the rest of the cast for the May 14th season finale.
I have a feeling her character will be a relative of geeky teacher Jess, as she could definitely pull off the goofy side to her character…is she a good addition to the show? Of course!
As a student magazine purchasing it quite a rarity for me, but tonight I couldn’t resist picking up a copy of Taylor Swift‘s January cover of ‘Cosmopolitan‘. In it she dishes on her boyfriend requirements, and making the same mistake twice:
“I really don’t have any rules about dating when it comes to height, age, career choice, anything like that. It doesn’t matter. It’s really more about strength of character. When it comes to age I’ve been all over the map!”
“I think that idea of love I hope for is that you learn a lesson and you don’t have to learn it twice. But the song ‘I Knew You Were Trouble‘ is about when I knowingly made the same mistake twice. I couldn’t resist it – there’s that temptation to push yourself into a risky situation with someone who is going to hurt you, and that’s what that song is about: not trusting your own instincts and ignoring all the red flags.”
If I didn’t love Taylor Swift so much, I would be seriously jealous of the fact that she’s now seeing ‘One Direction‘ cutie Harry Styles, but I think I’ll let her off…
The country sensation was caught craftily holding hands with Harry during ‘X Factor USA‘ rehearsals backstage Friday by the show’s co-host Mario Lopez, who told the listeners of his radio show last night: “Taylor Swift was the special guest performer, and here’s a little inside scoop for you. During rehearsals, Harry from ‘One Direction‘ came and slapped me on the back, and said, “Hey, Mario, how ya doing?” And I said, “What are you doing here?” And he sort of pointed toward Taylor. I saw them walking off hand in hand. So Taylor Swift and Harry from ‘One Direction‘ – you heard it here first. They’re officially hanging out, I can say that much.”
The official ‘X Factor USA‘ account have since tweeted: “Together in the lunch line (Cheeseburgers) laughing & smiling was @Harry_Styles & @taylorswift13! 🙂 #internationalpoproyalty,” and Mario tweeted Taylor afterwards: “Great to catch up with @taylorswift13 tonight! She looks amazing and is the sweetest girl ever… Forgot to take a pic. Next time.” Could there be a more attractive couple?!
Taylor Swift has told ‘Harper’s Bazaar‘ magazine of her desire for the man take the reigns in her relationships, and to wear the trousers as such (this makes sense considering she only owns about 2 pairs herself- she’s more of a sequin dress girl after all!): “It needs to be equal. If I feel too much like I’m wearing the pants, I start to feel uncomfortable and then we break up. Relationships are the ultimate collaboration but It’s wonderful to hand over the reins to your boyfriend when you control so much of these big, high-pressure decisions, you know? That is a huge defining factor in who you choose to be with.”
“Some combinations of people are toxic, you know? You have to find the right one that isn’t just going to explode into fiery ash and destruction. Despite all of that and how unpleasant it is, as a writer you get a lot from it. It’s a crazy justification system. You know that guy you really wish you could erase from your memory? But then the answer is track 6, 8, 12, and 13.”
