Popular British girl group ‘The Saturdays‘ have signed their 1st US record deal. Their signing to ‘Island Def Jam‘ and ‘Mercury Records‘ will see them produce an album and single in January 2013 for their newly acquired American fanbase.
Una Healy told ‘Billboard‘ magazine: “We’ve been together a long time now, 5 years. We’re just starting fresh here. That’s what its about. We’ve always wanted to come out here and go to different territories. We really feel ready now.” My personal fave, Mollie King, added: “We’ve done 3 tours actually in the UK. Once we did an arena tour we thought, ‘Right. We’re cemented here at home. Let’s try to conquer the world starting off with America!'”
It’s been a busy week of weddings for ‘One Direction‘ boy Harry Styles…let’s hope he’s got a good hat collection! Over the weekend Rochelle Wiseman from ‘The Saturdays‘ got hitched to ‘JLS‘ man Marvin Humes, a wedding that Harry attended. The day after, he bumped into a very newly-married woman on a street in Oxford.
When he saw her in a big white wedding dress, he popped by and offered her a kiss on the cheek in congratulations whilst the husband was out of sight- he literally crashed her wedding! He was surprisingly upbeat and looked good considering he’d only had a few hours sleep- he and friend Una Healy had been pictured stumbling around mere hours before at Rochin‘s evening ‘do. Lucky, lucky lady.
5 of the prettiest ladies in pop, ‘The Saturdays‘, are planning for their career to take off Stateside with a little help from a new TV project that they’re planning. During a routine radio interview with ‘Kiss FM‘ today, the girls (minus Una Healy) let slip that they are going head with plans to film a reality show pilot with all of the bandmates in America, which will be broadcasted by ‘E! Entertainment‘.
Mollie King said: “We’re going over to film a pilot basically, in a few weeks time. Hopefully, fingers crossed we’ll do a series documenting us hopefully cracking America.” Rochelle Wiseman told the show’s hosts: “We’re doing a pilot. We see if we like it and they like it. We’ve done a reality show before but this is going to be different because we’re not on home turf, we’re away.”
‘The Saturdays‘ gave their bandmate Una Healy an evening of gifts and pampering last night. Mollie King, Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman threw her a very pink baby shower at ‘Mortons‘ in Mayfair.
With less than 2 months to go, she’s spent the last week in bed, following advice from her doctor. (She fainted just a few weeks ago!)
She and rugby-player boyfriend Ben Foden have been busy decorating their baby’s nursery. On the band’s website, she proudly shows off their DIY achievements.
She says: “This is the little baby’s room, we converted it, it used to be our spare room but now it’s our nursery. Ben and I have had so much fun this week putting up the border, we did it all ourselves. I never realised he is little bit of a carpenter, he put together this cot himself, he put together this wardrobe.”
She left the bash with a boo full of gifts, including: a tiny pink dressing gown with ‘Little Sat‘ on the back, a pregnancy bump mug and blankets.
“Had the most amazing girlie night with friends and family, thanks so much to you all for all the wonderful gifts,” she tweeted today.
Una Healy has just announced to thousands of fans at ‘Wembley Arena‘ that she is now engaged to rugby player boyfriend Ben Foden.
She made the little announcement onstage during a performance of their ‘All Fired Up‘ tour just a few minutes ago, and shared a few tears with the girls. She and her bandmates have yet to release an official statement about it, but are likely to tomorrow.
Does this mean that the band will be forced to go on hiatus after the birth of her baby?
Congrats to them both!
Frankie Sandford returned from rehab yesterday after receiving treatment for an unknown condition, and stopped by the ‘ITV‘ studios in London to see a few familiar faces.
She was reunited with her ‘The Saturdays‘ band mates, and measured Una Healy‘s growing bump with a tape.
“I’ve been very impatient for Una‘s bump to show. I’ve come back and it’s finally here! The Sats baby is growing! :),” she wrote on Twitter.
Irish ‘The Saturdays‘ singer Una Healy is expecting her first child with rugby player boyfriend Ben Foden.
She told the press last night: “I’m really happy! It was totally unexpected, but me and Ben are really excited.”
She wrote on Twitter about how the pregnancy will not prevent her from joining the rest of the girls on their first ever arena tour this December, by which time Una will be at least 6 months along.
“Yes the news is true! @ben_foden and I are expecting a baby BenUna! We are both very excited. I am overwhelmed by all of your wonderfully positive and kind well wishes. Thank you all soooo much. So much love. And just to reassure all Saturdays fans its all systems go and I will be remaining fully committed to the band and our Tour in December. How lucky will the little baby be with 4 gorgeous Aunties @FrankieTheSats @MollieTheSats @RochelleTheSats @vanessawhite see you soon,” she wrote on her official Twitter page.
Frankie Sandford responded: “We’re so excited about our first mini Sats member! He or she is gonna be so spoiled by the most over protective aunties ever!!! x”
Rochelle seemed to have been struggling not to let the cat out of the bag: “Wow that was the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep. So excited and happy for Una to have a baby! I’m gonna be an aunty woo :)”
The easily-excitable Mollie King added: “Congrats to our beauty Una Healy and Ben Foden!! The first of many Sats babies! So so excited for u both. Bring on the babysitting! Mwah! x”
Party girl Vanessa White tweeted: “Soo excited about Una Healy having a lil buba what an amazing mum she will be! Can’t wait xx.”
Rochelle Wiseman emerged from an album cover shoot with her ‘The Saturdays’ bandmates this afternoon wearing a very sarcastic t-shirt, with the slogan ‘No Pictures’ written across her chest.
As a member of such a famous girlband, it’s clear that she is poking fun at the celebrity lifestyle, and it’s refreshing to see.
She told her Twitter fans that she felt under-dressed in comparison to the London commuters though: “Driving through the city of London near Liverpool St. I love how everyone dresses so smart to go to work! Makes me wanna make more effort!
Off to rehearsals I go lol no where near as smart ha.”
Girlband ‘The Saturdays’ turned up to the BBC Radio 1 studios early this morning to promote their new single ‘Notorious’ (due for release on May 22nd), and Chris Moyles gave it its first airplay.
However, only three of the girls, (Mollie King, Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman) could make it to the studio for the recording; bandmates Una and Vanessa stopped by their management’s London office instead.
Am loving Mollie’s printed Lipsy playsuit, and Frankie’s leather jacket!
‘Notorious’ is their first single from their upcoming fourth album, (due for release later this year).
The music video was filmed in LA recently, and was their second music video to be filmed over in the US.
It’s a slightly edgier sounds for the group in comparison to the pop-filled ‘Higher’, but is an exciting new direction for them.
‘The Saturdays’ singer Mollie King showed off her naughty side in this raunchy schoolgirl outfit Thursday night at London’s ‘Public’ night club (which is a favourite of the royals!), whilst the only Irish member of the band, Una Healy, made her love for Ireland very clear in her Guiness hat, green t-shirt, and appeared to behaving a great time on St. Paddy’s day!
