A month ago Selena Gomez was offered the incredible opportunity to perform at the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Things heated up for Taylor Swift‘s BFF however before she reached the catwalk shaped stage, when she stormed the pink carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton number.
Jimmy Choo barely-there heels were the only necessary addition to the scarily cut thigh split number. In a post thanking the man behind the Vuitton brand, she wrote that she “felt like a real angel tonight”, in one of her most risqué outfits to date. Yesterday she poked fun at her diet- based press by sharing that she’d in fact eaten a McDonald’s backstage, more minutes before her performance!
The lucky singer was offered the chance to wear three designer dresses from different fashion houses during the course of the evening; one for the red carpet, one for her performance, and then of course the after-party! If you, like me, can’t wait to watch these angels do their thing on 4Music tonight (super Gigi fangirl), then pop along to Boohoo.com to find their take on the Selena themed dress, costing just £20 and ironically named ‘Victoria’.
It’s fair to say that 2015 has been the year Kylie Jenner went from being the baby of the Kardashian clan, to a fully fledged ‘King Kylie‘ within the social media world, and within her family’s fanbase. It was also the year that she confirmed she’d had lip plumping treatment (eventually anyway…)
The 18 year old daughter of Kris Jenner has so far dabbled with coloured hair extension lines, and a joint clothing collection with Pacsun (featuring her model sister Kendall), but she has not ventured into the world of make-up products until now.
lipkitbykylie.com has recently gone live, with the first batch of new products selling out in an incredible 60 seconds! She has reassured fans a restock will happen imminently, in order to avoid Christmas pouts under the tree! So her lip kits retail at $29, and come in three of Kylie’s typical neutral shades; Dolce K, True Brown K, and a Candy K. They contain a matte lipstick and a liner to give you the overly-lined pout that started an Instagram craze this year. Recent high-school graduate Kylie claims to have been heavily involved within the manufacturing progress, sitting in on chem lab meetings and visiting factories lately.
In a statement on her new website, she writes: “After two long years of dreaming about this, I am so excited to finally share my lip kit with you guys. The Kylie Lip Kit is a collection of shades and products I handpicked with an amazing team to design the perfect “Kylie lip”. I can’t wait to see how beautiful everyone is going to look. Use the hashtag #LipKitByKylie to share your photos with me.”
For anyone wondering how to apply, they advise: “Each Lip Kit is applied with one swipe color that glides across lips and dries down to a powdery-soft, matte finish. Homogenous color in natural nudes and deep browns give unparalleled comfort and wear. The oil free formula has 25% pigment which provides instant color. The perfect blend of waxes, silicone and polymers give you smooth and easy glide color, with longwearing properties.”
For 124 years American charity Union Rescue Mission has been feeding the homeless over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 200 volunteers work tirelessly to feed the estimated 4000 Skid Row residents a heathy meal on a special weekend. The charity provides shelter for the homeless, clothing, medical and dental care, in addition to legal support, and has quite the regular celebrity following.
The Los Angeles born organisation was visited this weekend by philanthropic Hilton heiress Paris Hilton, who worked in the kitchen dishing up the turkey- based goods to the thousands of hungry men and women. After her stint at serving the public, she returned to her parent’s mansion for a Kathy Hilton feast!
She tweeted yesterday evening: “Thanksgiving is about appreciating what you have and giving back to those in need. Always enjoy my time making the holidays special for everyone at the Union Rescue Mission. Happy Thanksgiving.”
Meanwhile, across town Kendall Jenner and friends were spotted handing out sandwiches to the homeless they spotted on the street. Good work girls!
For several weeks now the press have been speculating the identity of the Hollywood actor that is HIV positive, and they were indeed correct in their suspicions; yesterday Charlie Sheen confided to The Today Show presenter Matt Lauer that he is living with the disease. After concealing his illness for four years, he has had to go to enormous lengths and costs to keep it a secret. But now he is tired of the current smear campaign up against him, and of people trying to rip him off (for $10 million to date).
“I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me, threatening the health of so many others that couldn’t be further from the truth. What people forget is that that’s money they’re taking from my children. I trusted them and they were deep in my inner circle, and I thought they could be helpful. My trust turned to their treason. I think I release myself from this prison today.”
As for the initial ailments that led him to seek medical attention, it began with headaches: “It started with what I thought was a series of crushing headaches.I thought I had a brain tumour. I thought it was over.” Strangely however, the actor that once admitted he had bedded over 5000 women in his life, has continued to have unprotected sex post-diagnosis, although he claims that they were informed prior to intercourse, and are cared for by his doctor. He now takes four tablets each day, and his family worry that he may become depressed with this condition.
He has told his eldest daughter the news: “It hit her hard, but she recovered. She’s tough like her Dad. I said, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, but it didn’t seem like you could do anything for me and I didn’t want to burden you with all the stress.’ But she was a rock star about it.”
“I have a responsibility now to better myself and to help a lot of other people and hopefully with what we’re doing today others will come forward and say, ‘Thanks, Charlie.’ If there was one guy on this planet to contract this that’s going to deliver a cure, it’s me. It’s me. Seriously. I’m not going to be the poster man for this, but I will not shun away from responsibilities and opportunities that drive me to helping others.”
Yesterday Kendall Jenner‘s childhood dream of modelling for Victoria’s Secret became a reality, when she took to the runway as a “baby” angel alongside the experienced pros. The annual festivity, featuring performances by Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez (Rihanna pulled out pretty last minute), will be broadcasted on CBS on December 8 in the USA, so prepare yourself to cry into a tub of Ben & Jerry’s whilst we ogle the waiter-thin goddesses.
Kendall, overcome with emotion, made her angelic debut alongside BFF Gigi Hadid, and has posted on social media in the last 24 hours “dreams came true tonight”, followed by “sorry I’m just all emotional and excited about what happened yesterday. Last one for now. Would not have wanted to share this moment with anyone else but you baby G”.
Whilst she requested the absence of her Kardashian clan, she invited Mum and Dad Kris and Caitlyn Jenner along, who made a rare public outing together. “So incredible!! Beyond proud of you @kendalljenner #dreamsdocometrue #proudmama #vsfashionshow,” Kris wrote on Instagram. Kendall told the New York Daily News behind the scenes: “I told them all to stay away. It was too much pressure and I was like, ‘Mom and Dad are good enough’. I just need the pressure off. There’s enough pressure as it is.” Hardly surprising considering she has banned the girls from several of her haute couture Chanel shows previously!
Big sister Khloe Kardashian praised her debut on Twitter: “My baby sisters dreams came true yesterday!!!! @kendalljenner Every great dream starts with a dreamer and you my love are a dreamer amongst Angels!!!! Proud of you baby girl!” Proud Dad Caitlyn, who initially had an issue with this style of modelling at the beginning of her career, wrote: “Last night my little angel fulfilled her dream as a little girl to walk in a show!” Congrats Kendall!
Justin Bieber was once a baby-faced crooner discovered on YouTube, but his fame rocketed pretty fast, and he is now one of the biggest male artists in the world, unbelievably, despite his table flipping and weed smoking bad boy habits. As much as we’d all love to deny it, ‘What Do You Mean?‘ and ‘Sorry‘, his latest offerings, really aren’t bad tracks. His fourth album ‘Purpose‘ is released any day, and he has decided to mark the occasion by an extensive interview with Billboard.
He admits that over the last few years, his Mum Pattie Mallette, who had Justin when she was in high school, was highly disappointed by his behaviour: “I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She’s living in Hawaii now, so it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her.” Meanwhile, things are slightly better with his Dad, Jeremy Bieber: “He was immature. He left for like a year when I was about 4, went to British Columbia, came back on Father’s Day. I remember my Mom said, ‘If you’re going to be here, you have to be here.’ There’s a misconception that he’s this deadbeat dad, but he has been in my life since. I was with him on weekends and Wednesdays.”
As for the bad boy front he puts on, he claims that those days are over: “Enough with the Justin Bieber Show. I want to veer away from the self-centered attitude. I’m just focused on the people who have been there since the start, on people who are taking the journey now. I want them to feel like we’re doing this together. I wouldn’t suggest being a child star. It’s the toughest thing in the world. I want people to be more kind to young celebrities. Like Kylie Jenner. Look at her world: She has been living on TV since she was a kid. Every time she’s looking around she sees a camera, and that’s affecting how she’s thinking and how she’s perceiving people and why she has to do certain things … Situations that happen taint your mind, especially in this industry. Especially for girls. Everything is so based on people’s looks and stuff … Look at the statistics on how many child stars have crumbled and turned out to be wack jobs. It’s because — it’s f**ked, bro, this lifestyle. It might seem awesome from the outside, but I’m struggling. Certain things broke my trust with people. Situations happen that taint your mind. I started going through the motions. I felt like people were judging me all the time. I came out alive. I came out swinging. But I was close to letting fame completely destroy me.”
Noel Gallagher doesn’t seem to like much in the world in general, but don’t ever get him started on measly boy bands. The one-time Oasis legend, who now fronts The High Flying Birds and has a reputation for being one of the most outspoken men in Britain despite his declining musical fame, has bashed band One Direction again in the press.
In a particular vulgar and hatred filled rant, the cocky singer educated readers of Esquire magazine’s December issue about his lack of approval: “I’ll tell you what’s wrong. Fame’s wasted on these c***s today. Harry Styles has got nothing to say for himself – nothing. ‘You alright, mate?’ ‘Uhhh’. That’s it. The gig will never die because you can’t download it. You can’t download spirit. And, so, for the likes of me who persevered from an early age to play the f*****g guitar and write songs and practice and practice and practice, I’ll be fine. God help f*****g Zayn Malik.”
“I fuc*ing hate whingeing rock stars. And I hate pop stars who are just… neh. Just nothing, you know? ‘Oh, yeah, my last selfie got 47-thousand-million likes on Instagram.’ Yeah, why don’t you go fu*k off and get a drug habit, you penis?” This new generation of rock stars, they look great: Alex Turner, Miles Kane, the guys from Royal Blood. They’ve got the fu*king skinny jeans and the boots, and all that eyeliner. I’ve got a cat that’s more rock’n’roll than all of them put together. Pigeons? Rips their fuc*ing heads off.”
The potty- mouthed man also confirmed his love for doing interviews; “I could do this all day long. It’s sick, because I get to be a gobshi*e, and I get to do that thing: to be the last of a dying breed. I have an opinion on everything and if I don’t have an opinion, I’ll fuc*ing make one up on the spot.” Sounds about right, Noel…
In 2013 Angelina Jolie-Pitt underwent a double mastectomy to lengthen her life for the sake of her children, and to prevent the onset of breast cancer. The Hollywood actress, married to Brad Pitt, filmed her directing debut ‘By The Sea’ last summer in Malta in the weeks following their August nuptials, and Angelina is beginning the never-ending press trail to promote the film. Creative Angelina wrote, produced and directed the film, and it is the first time she and Brad have appeared on-screen together since they met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005! Earlier in the year she described herself as currently experiencing the menopause, and decided to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.
This week she has confided to The New York Times that she understandably experienced a great deal of nerves before filming, and didn’t originally want to appear in the film herself, due to the recent physical changes and alterations to her body: “There were lots of scenes I wanted to change or cut. I realised it was going to be me naked in that bathtub. But I told myself, put all of that aside. Like, you can’t change or cut this scene because you’ve had a mastectomy, or because we’re married and people are going to analyze this or that. That would be cheating. A few days into filming I thought: This is such a bad idea. What was I thinking? This is going to destroy us before we’ve even gotten started. But by the time we got to the end of the film, we’d argued, challenged each other, disappointed each other, had good days, bad days, all of it. We’d pushed through, learned something about each other, found a new working relationship and came to like the idea of ‘Yeah, it gets really bad, but you work it out.’ I know some people are going to hate it. Some are going to like it. But it was important to me to feel like an artist again.”
“As a director I had to be very sure, very strong in opinion, stable. My character? She shouldn’t direct anything. Not even traffic. She’s a mess. The duality — being a director, then having to become a person that vulnerable — would often be hard. There’s a whole reel of me calling “Cut!” If a doctor saw it, I’d be put on medication. I’m hysterically crying and then calling “Cut!” or during a sex scene I am calling “Cut!” on Brad. You had to laugh at how bizarre it was.”
Jennifer Lawrence plays a confident, assertive feminist character as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series, and these traits are often noticed in her own off-screen personality. The Oscar-winning actress is an activist within young Hollywood for equal pay between the sexes, and earlier this year wrote a piece for Lenny (a feminist newsletter) on the topic. When the infamous Sony email leak happened last year, Lawrence discovered that her male co-stars of a similar acting calibre were earning considerably more than herself on film American Hustle, and she didn’t want to let it go unnoticed by the press.
At a press event for the franchise’s final film offering in LA this weekend, she continued to consider the implications of the pay gap: “It was more of how did my mentality get in my own way of fighting just as hard as the men to get a better deal. I would love to straighten up that I wasn’t writing about not making as much as my male co-stars, as complaining about that I wasn’t getting paid more because I’m a woman. I hoped to just write more about how my own fears of how am I going to be portrayed, or how am I going to look, or how will people judge me. That got in my way when obviously the men in the movie don’t think that way. Thank you for completely making my point that if a woman goes and speaks up, and is assertive and has a voice, she’s going to be called a brat. I just don’t see a man being called a brat.”
Lawrence is also having to come to terms with eschewing her bow and arrow and mockingjay pin, and taking the next step in her film career now The Hunger Games is due to end: “Honestly, it’s a job. I really love acting, so I really just think of myself as a working woman. I think it will be pretty bizarre when the movie is finally out and… everything is officially done.I didn’t really feel that I said goodbye to her [Katniss]. There were a few years of getting used to it, your entire world changes. I have a new normal now, I feel very stable and normal and happy. But the pressure… you just can’t think about it. I hope I’ve grown up.”
Three months ago, Amy Schumer fans sat in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theatre and witnessed the most terrible event not on the silver screen, in her latest movie Trainwreck, but instead in person. A man bearing a gun was seated in the audience, and shot his two innocent victims from the rows before turning the gun on himself.
This tragedy is unfortunately an ever-growing epidemic in America, and alongside her cousin, US Senator Chuck Schumer, the pair are forming a crusade against gun crime, in order to end this spiralling number of events indefinitely. On Sunday the duo held a press conference at New York City Hall, and Amy addressed the crowds on the subject for the first time since the event took place.
She began: “On Thursday, July 23rd, a man sat down for my movie, Trainwreck. I don’t know why he picked my movie. It is something I live with every day. I’m not sure why this man chose my movie to end those two lives and injure nine others, but it was very personal for me. We always find out how the shooter got their gun and it’s always something that never should have happened in the first place.”
The comedienne/ actress, who in recent weeks made her very impressive Saturday Night Live debut, has decided to use the show’s “live from New York” slogan, followed by “we’re aiming for change”, to advertise their campaign in the media. After her political appearance, she posted via her Twitter account: “Please join me and @SenSchumer in ending gun violence and tweet the hashtag #aimingforchange RT we can do this.”
The primary purpose of the emotionally-charged conference was to cover the campaign’s three key points: close background check loopholes, so that criminals can no longer avoid checks when purchasing weapons at gun shows or on the Internet; make these checks more effective and improved in order to stop domestic abusers buying guns; and to close down the illegal gun pipeline for good, with gun trafficking qualifying as a federal crime.
