Last Sunday my good pal Helen Griffiths and I had the pleasure of attending the Welsh BAFTAs (BAFTA Cymru) on the behalf of Cardiff Union TV– watch our new video now (featured in today’s episode of CSM Live), and look out for the likes of Michael Sheen, Ruth Jones & Steven Moffat! (You’ll have to fast forwards to around the 14 minute mark to see me and my multiple chins wave the microphone a bit in an enthusiastic fashion in various celebrity’s faces…) Enjoy!

Learn How To Dip-Dye Clothing

Standard

As you should know by now, us ‘CUTV‘ girls (‘Cardiff Union TV‘) know a thing or two about fashion. We have just posted our second episode of fashion/ beauty show online, ‘Dressing The Diff‘, and if you are at all intrigued as to how to dip-dye your clothing this summer, check it out…

Not only do we try our hands at a bit of DIY dip dye, but we also talk you through our A-Z of festival fashion- what do you think of it?!

Presented and filmed by Alice Hart, Sum Sze Tam and Helen Griffiths. Edited by Alice Hart and Helen Griffiths.

‘CUTV’ Celebrates Multiple Wins At ‘Cardiff Student Media Awards’

One of the things I love most about Cardiff University is being involved in Student Media. As an aspiring fashion assistant/ journalist/ TV presenter/ radio presenter (yeah, there’s still a bit of work to do on deciding there), I make the most of every opportunity offered to me here. One of my main focuses is our TV station, ‘CUTV‘, which I guess you could say I’ve gotten a little obsessed with.

Last Saturday night myself and other students from our culture magazine ‘Quench‘, radio station ‘Xpress‘, and newspaper ‘Gair Rhydd‘, went along to a rather swanky bash at the Hilton to celebrate our various achievements. Former ‘T4‘ presenter Rick Edwards and Olympic Silver medalist Iwan Thomas fronted the gig, and provided plenty of crude jokes to the teenage crowd. Cheeky Iwan actually ended up nicking some of our wine at the table when his neighbours had polished off their lot!

Towards the end of last year my friend Helen Griffiths and I began to get involved with ‘Fresh‘, a culture-based show, on which we presented our own fashion segment. As the show’s creator was unable to collect the award himself, we were ushered onstage to collect the award for ‘Best Show‘, where I managed to make a complete tit out of myself by ‘doing a Jennifer Lawrence‘ by tripping slightly, albeit down the stairs (in heels, natch, followed by a quick recovery).

Special awards were presented to my incredibly hard-working friends, including my date for the night (hehe), Huw Ware (aka Mr Best Personality), and the big winner of the night was the talented Mike ‘OCD’. Kayleigh Chan and Helen Griffiths were awarded the roles of Head and Deputy Controllers, succeeding the fabulous Sophie Gregory.

Fashion-wise, out of my entire ensemble, nothing was very new. The smoke-effect bodycon dress I wore was a ‘Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins‘ bargain at just £20 back in the January sales, which I paired with the obligatory black heels- student scrimping at its finest!

Watch CUTV’s Pilot Episode Of New Fashion Show ‘Dressing The Diff’

Standard

A couple of months ago myself and friend Helen started talking about creating our own fashion show for Cardiff Uni based TV station, ‘CUTV‘. After weeks of planning in meetings, filming segments and editing them together, this is the finishing product…the pilot episode of ‘Dressing The Diff’!

The pilot episode features a review of the best dressed at the Oscars, a rating of current trends on the “hot or not” scale, and we head down to ‘River Island‘ for the launch of Rihanna‘s new line! Presented by Alice Hart, Helen Griffiths, Jade Attwood and Menna Jones, filmed by Sum Sze Tam, and edited by Alice Hart and Helen Griffiths.

We aim to offer fashion advice and critique current high street trends, teach viewers how to do the odd wardrobe DIY job, and most importantly, to make all students aware that you don’t have to have a big budget to be creative or enjoy fashion. Look out for episode number 2!

‘CUTV’ Interviews Band ‘Billy Talent’

Standard

Kayleigh Chan and Chris Williams from ‘CUTV‘ chatted to Ben and Jon from rock band ‘Billy Talent‘ before their headline (and penultimate) show as part of the ‘Rock Sound Riot‘ tour last week. They talked about life on the road, their new album ‘Dead Silence’ and the popular event ‘Movember’.

‘CUTV’ Interviews ‘The Vaccines’

Standard

Myself and Helen Griffiths interviewed Freddie & Pete from indie/ rock band ‘The Vaccines‘ last Friday on the behalf of ‘CUTV‘ ahead of their gig in the Great Hall at Cardiff Univeristy Student’s Union that night. We chatted about their UK arena tour next year, festival highlights, and their plans to play all across America next summer!
